What’s coming….
So there are several things I plan to work on with this blog.
1.) The obvious, I’m 1/2 way through building my chicken coop and once that is up and the proper fencing is in place to keep the coyotes out, there will be a lot of blog posts and hopefully a bunch of adorable pictures of my future baby chicks.
2.) Recycling information for the outer phoenix areas. I plan on building a mapping system for recycling centers, drop-offs, what places can take, what they can’t take, etc. for the East Valley Rural areas that don’t have curb service. If it proves useful, I’ll work to expand it to the west valley.
3.) Tips and Tricks for sustainable living
4.) As we build our house, things we use to help lessen the load on the environment (building materials, systems, etc.)
So Stay Tuned…
Worth the wait….
When I first started thinking about the blog, the first domain name that popped in my brain was chickypoo. I went to search for the domain. I use instantdomainsearch.com which let’s you look for domains without tracking the results (so that name squatters don’t grab it if you don’t grab it right away) and I was pleased as punch when it said it was available!
I knew what I wanted to do with the design for it in seconds and I was off to register the domain.
I jumped over to azhoster.com to register the domain and got “This domain is unavailable…” Bummed, I thought it was a glitch on instantdomainsearch.com’s site but then looked further into it. The domain was expired, by just a couple days. I know the registry rules so I knew it would be awhile before it was released to the public.
I kept an eye out for it knowing it would get back to the market in about 45 days. I tried to think of another domain name that I’d like and I just couldn’t come up with one that would fit what I wanted for the design, the 2 eggs for the O’s.
I anxiously watched, I smiled when it hit redemption period (knowing most people don’t want to pay 80 bucks to get their domain back from the registry)
So patiently, I waited, checked on the status at the 45 day mark, and sure enough, it went to pending delete. Woot! That meant 5 more days before it was re-released to the public. My only concern was if anyone had a back-order on it through a registrar. I can’t use backorders because of where I work so I was screwed if anyone used the service. On the 5th day, I snatched it.
12 hours later, the site design is mainly done except the sidebars and fonts and first blog post is up…
If only I could build my chicken coop that fast…..
